SEDA was established to
provide social and economic opportunities for the poor people of Laos. We
are a non-profit, non-government organization dedicated to creating a
long-term solution to poverty.
Serving outlying rural communities,
SEDA is working to rebuild village schools; increase HIV/AIDS education and
prevention outreach; improve medical training and traditional treatment
facilities; and establish a sustainable agribusiness for village farmers.
We are also developing two new
projects to assist low-income, single women through microfinance, and help
young people gain access to education and opportunities.
SEDA’s philosophy is to empower the
Laotian people, providing them with opportunities and encouragement to work
together to solve their own problems. Our programs attempt to create
awareness of issues and mobilize local resources, creativity, energy and
commitment to meet those challenges.
SEDA is a civil society organization
that works in cooperation with the National Science Council (NSC), the Laos Union
of Science and Engineering Association (LUSEA).
From our founder:
"SEDA-Laos needs your support. Whatever you can donate, small or large, will go directly to help
Laos' disadvantaged children, farmers, women and villagers avoid exploitation and gain access to
education and opportunities. Without your help nothing in Laos will change."
